MISSION & VALUES

Mission:

“A Family Gathered, Growing In Christ, Going To Make Disciples.”

To fulfill our mission, we embrace a discipleship pathway built on seven key values that every follower of Christ should exhibit.

GATHER

Believe

We believe that the first step every disciple must take is believing in the person and work of Christ (Savior & Lord). When a person confesses faith within their heart and with their mouth, we would say that they have committed their life to Christ and started their faith journey. (Mark 1:15, Romans 10:9-11)

Connect

Following a confession of faith, a disciple is commanded to be baptized, a sign of true faith and obedience. In addition, baptism is a statement to a local body of believers that one is united in faith, arm in arm together with the whole church to accomplish the same mission. To connect is to join the Family on Mission (Ephesians 1:22-23; 2:19-22 4:4-6, Acts 2:41-42)

GROW

Grounded

Foundationally, every disciple must be strong, and the base of every disciple is the Word of God. By daily reading the Word and applying it to one's life, studying it with other believers, and hearing it preached weekly, a disciple will be equipped and complete for every good work God has created them for. (Hebrews 1:1-2, 2 Tim 3:15-17, Rom 15:4, 1 Peter 1:25)

Transformed

Built atop the foundation of God's Word, by the power of the Holy Spirit, a disciple must deepen their relationship with Christ in the area of prayer. Prayer is simply a conversation with our living God, who actively hears and answers our requests according to His will. In Prayer, the Spirit will actively reveal God's will and direction for our lives, leading us to live like Christ in this world. (Romans 12:2, Hebrews 4:16, 1 John 5:14-15, Phil 4:6-7, 1 Thes 5:16-18)

Called

As a family, God has woven a diverse tapestry of believers from all walks of life, uniquely gifted and talented, to serve Him and one another. Beyond these natural gifts, God has also given every disciple a variety of spiritual gifts meant to aid them in living out their God-given purpose. By investing these gifts into the church, the Kingdom of God is experienced, and God is glorified. (1 Peter 4:10-11, Romans 12:3-8, 1 Cor 12:4-11)

GO

Reaching

Like the early disciples we have been commissioned to "Go & Tell" all people about the good news of Jesus Christ. FBC Sinton has been uniquly placed by God in Sinton as a lighthouse, pointing people to Jesus and the Kingdom of God. Our mission is simple, "reach the unreached with the best news on earth." (Acts 1:8, Matthew 28:18-20, Luke 19:10)

Reflecting

Beyond speaking about the message of God's love, the church must reflect the ministry of Jesus. Just as He loved the poor, showed compassion to the broken, and aided the helpless, we must be an extension of that ministry, both inside and outside the church. When we love our neighbors, they will experience and hear about the love of Christ, and prayerfully believe in the One who died to love them eternally. (John 13:35, Matthew 5:14-16)
